The new National Curriculum requires all children in Key Stage 2 (Years 3-6) to study a modern foreign language. At Stoke Park, we have been teaching the children Spanish for a number of years.
However, because we know that the younger a child starts to study a foreign language the better they will learn it, children at Stoke Park start their weekly Spanish lessons from Reception. They will continue with these lessons all the way through to Year 6. The lessons are delivered in a fun and lively manner often using drama and role play to develop children’s spoken language and vocabulary.
Spanish is taught by Tamara Sage. Not only is Tamara Sage a qualified ballet teacher, she is a qualified class teacher with specialism in Spanish. Having grown up in Galicia, North West Spain, Tamara is bilingual. As half her family are Spanish, Tamara still frequently visits the country. Tamara has taught Spanish clubs for the past 4 years and is now teaching all ages at Stoke Park from Nursery to Year 6.
