    Literacy 

    Learning rhyming words and using them to learn poems,  learning new vocabulary and applying to situations, writing simple words and captions

    Phase 3 and phase 3 mastery phonics, segmenting and blending simple words to read and write

    Understanding The World 

    Investigating, sort, and group, different materials such as wood, plastic, glass; know what personal information is and that it is not to be shared online.

    Use joining materials to make a kite

    Create artwork using a variety of materials

    Learn and perform new songs, use claves to tap along to the beat of a song.

    Communication and Language 

    Recall an event in order, maintain attention whilst listening to poems and stories, know that you need to look at and listen to the person talking, explain what happened during lunchtime, know and recite 2 poems.

    Physical Development 

    Begin to cut out shapes, control their body to balance on beams and on a balance bike, practice handwriting skills using the ULS program, continue to develop fine motor and gross motor skills through a variety of indoor/outdoor activities.

    PE Days

    PE in Reception is on a Thursday. Please make sure that your child wears their PE kit to school on these days.  Our PE kit is plain black shorts, leggings or joggers; plain white or school PE t-shirt; school jumper.

    Homework

    Phonics will be given out on a Friday. The children can practise writing and saying the taught sounds for that week.

    When your child receives a reading book please support your child at home by reading 5 x a week for at least 10 minutes.

    Useful Information

    To ensure your child is ready to learn, please provide them with a labelled bottle of water everyday. A healthy snack of fruit or vegetables is provided by the school.
