At Stoke Park Primary School, we believe in helping every child to reach his or her full potential. We recognise that every child is unique and that each individual will require different levels of support.
To meet children’s additional learning needs, we have a SENCO (Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator) who co-ordinates this provision through a highly skilled team of teachers and teaching assistants. In discussion with the parents and the child, the SENCO and class teacher may put in place additional support that is targeted to meet the needs of children who may have special educational needs and/or disabilities. Targeted interventions are usually delivered by staff within your child’s phase, in this way the adult is best placed to track progress and review what support should be provided.
In delivering this support we draw on a variety of resources which are carefully tailored to ensure that your child is making progress against their agreed targets. We want you to be fully informed about the support being given to your child and will hold regular meetings with you. If at any time parents/carers have questions or comments, then they can contact their class teacher who will be happy to arrange a suitable meeting time with you.
We also understand that, at times, children may need additional support with managing and understanding their feelings and behaviour. In order to support these children, we have a team who provide counselling, mentoring, family support and play therapy. Thanks to this committed and experienced team, behaviour at our school was rated OUTSTANDING in our last Ofsted inspection.
